How to Remove Tar from Tile



Tar is basically a black and a thick substance that basically clings and sticks to nearly all the things that it touches and it is actually unfortunate for the tile floors. Tar an easily be removed and eradicated with the help of the special tools and equipment’s, as well as with the expert cleaning compounds or with the heavy labor, if it is accidentally traced or tracked in the house. Tar is actually dissolved with the help of oils, thus, most of the oily substances and ingredients that consist of peanut butter, so it may help to eradicate it. Procedure:

Material Required:

·      Petroleum jelly
·      A sandwich bag
·      Ice
·      A wooden spatula
·      A cloth
·      WD-40
·      White vinegar
·      Glycerin or linseed oil
·      Mineral spirits
·      Scouring powder

Stages to Remove the Tar from tile:
1.  Petroleum jelly is used in order to wipe down on the spot whether it is dry or old. And then, allow the petroleum jelly to soak down for around half an hour or for 30 minutes. Before starting the cleaning process, with the help of the petroleum jelly the spot is going to become soft.

2.    In case, if the tar or asphalt is thick or fresh, a bag of sandwich is filled with the ice and the bag is laid all over the asphalt or tar that is going to help it in order to solidify it more rapidly. The frozen tar or asphalt is chipped off with the help of a wooden spatula.
3.    In case, if the mark of the tar is very thin and small, then, a clean cloth is taken and it is sprayed with the WD-40. And the stain or the mark of tar is rubbed away by using this sprayed cloth.

4.  White vinegar can also be used with some drops of the linseed oil or liquid vegetable glycerin in case, if WD-40 is not available. A clean cloth is taken and the cleaner is applied to it and the stain is rubbed away with using that cloth.

5.    A small mark of the tar is also removed by using another cleaner that is mineral spirits. Make sure to spot test it first as it is used in order to damage the seal on the tiles. In case, if it is safe, then, the cloth is dampened with the help of the solvent and the stain is rubbed away by using this.

6.  When the bulk of the tar is removed, then, scouring powder is used, for instance, Bar Keeper’s Friend, in order to eradicate the left over residue.
